Which instrument?

At some point, everyone has wanted to start playing a musical instrument. While some have given up, others kept going and look where they are now. Many professional bands include some of these people. The problem is that nobody knows which intrument they should start playing. The problem is quite reasonably since there is a varied range of instruments one could play. These include guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, just to name a few.
If you want to play guitar, you have to be prepared to sit down for hours trying to get down your first chord. You would have to understand that it's not a one week thing to learn how to play guitar, neither is any other instrument. Bass can be easier than the guitar but people who play bass are people that don't like the most attention, but still can be heard a little bit. Same thing with the keyboard. But if you're someone crazy who likes to have the most fun, drums is probably the best instrument. Even though the drummer is all the way in the back, he/she still gets plenty of appreciation.

  1. Sadly, I had to learn this the hard way. I just never knew how much dedication people put into playing these instruments. I could barely make a simple chord progression and I've been playing the guitar for about a year or so. I also agree with the "drummer" part. People think that it's just hitting randomly. To be a drummer you have to be well coordinated, be able to keep a rhythm, and learn to separate the hands and feet.

  2. I love when little kids try to learn to play an instrument. It's not that they can't, it's just it seems they have a harder time being able to do so. I went to a children music camp over the summer and I am familiar with the complaints. It seemed like a lot of them tended to drift towards the drums which surprisingly they were able to get a beat, if only a very simple one.

  3. For me, the instrument of choice is guitar. I have been playing it for about two years now, but lately I haven't even picked it up. When I first started I really enjoyed it. That was seventh grade. From then I had wanted to be involved in the arts more, but after freshmen year my attention has turned to other things.
I do though have a large appreciation for all music and musicians. I know how hard it is to come up with a song, and then write lyrics to it, something I could never do. I can appreciate the insane speed at which metal guitarists play because I know they must be sitting and practicing a few hours a day. Music is something I still would want to get into as a hobby, but not a lifetime commitment.

  4. I dont really play an instrument, but if I had to make a choice it would be either the acoustic guitar or violin. I base my choice on pretty much two reasons. First, they are both instruments which can be taken on the go, so as to play for other people anywhere, as well as practice anywhere and take on trips and stuff, unlike drums which are very much stationary. The second reason is that my favorite musician, John Mayer, plays the guitar and does it very good. I recently discovered another musician which I like very much, his name is David Garret. He plays popular classic and popo songs on the violin, and I would love to do this.
