Most of the good work is underrated. Most of the pathetic work is overrated. This means that some of the best work is not appreciated as much as it should be. Some not-as-good work should also be appreciated and it is not. Indie is an excellent style of music and almost nobody appreciates it. My friend Miguel Hernandez introduced me to this awesome genre, since he is a big fan of it. Bands like Cake, Arcade Fire, The Shins, Dr. Dog, and Modest Mouse have amazing music that nobody actually appreciates as much as other crappy genres of music. If you listen to the song “My Old Ways” by Dr. Dog, you will most likely not like it at first. It was definitely worth it to get into it.
Ska? Yes, a kind of music. It combines reggae, jazz, punk, and blues sometimes. Most people listen to it and say “WHAT THE ****?!” Well, again another underrated kind of music that requires lots of talents. It’s also very enjoyable after getting used to it. Listen to the bands Rx Bandits, Suburban Legends, Suicide Machines, Less than Jake, and Reel Big Fish. Country is also underrated, but I don’t even listen to it, so I can’t say…

I see were you are coming from with the indie rock. I enjoy it to, ive just got into it recently and I find it great. Songs like Distubia and Live your Life get really old really fast and they have no part in my music library. I like the Indie music because it’s so different and weird and there are no catchy parts to it and you really have to analyze it to understand it. I have never heard of Ska, I guess ill have to check it out sometime.
ReplyDeleteNo way if anything ska and indie are overrated so many dumb kids try and listen to sublime and bad fish and all those ska bands so many kids think its amazing and they don't really know the bands I see kids with sublime shirts all the time I ask hey do you really like them they say yes, then I ask them to state at least 5 songs and they cant.. People give indie way to much hype it's not even that good..
ReplyDeleteIndie Rock is a very underrated genre. Most of the reason goes to the short attention span of our generation. Indie is a very relaxed, slow genre that mostly takes careful analyzing and listening to. Indie Bands such as Modest Mouse and Interpol make the genre how it is. Ska is very underrated when it shouldn't. It's a very exciting genre with a lot of things going on at once. What makes me really mad is the hypocrites that "say" they like a ska band when they only know one song by them (such as Sublime).
