Judging

Have you ever heard a song for less than 5 seconds and automatically said "I dont't like it?" Yes you have. Everyone has. I have. You have. Well, most of the time you say that about a song, you end up liking it later on. No matter what your usual taste is like, you could get into any song. After hearing a song multiple times, our minds "process it" and get used to it. After getting used to it, you may get into it, unless it's a really bad song.
What's my point? Well, instead of giving up on a song and saying it sucks, you should listen to the whole thing. Maybe listen more carefully and try to appreciate it more. It's kind of like when you look at a piece of art. After looking at it for more than 5 seconds you see what it's really about and the deep meaning it has. Same thing with good music. But then again, good music to me may not be good music to you. It's all about opinion.

The Beatles

The Beatles were an English band formed in Liverpool. The ten successful years of this band formed one of the most popular acts in the history of music. The guys managed to come up with a new style unique from everything else at the time. In 1960 there was nothing even similar to the Beatles. Later on, maybe the Wonders and others were similar but not comparable to the Beatles.

The band featured four members. John Lennon and Paul McCartney were the two more popular ones in the band. The two guitar players were the ones who wrote most of the songs. Ringo Starr, the drummer, was also well known. As was George Harrison. The band's success was so amazing that every song written by them was well made and unique, which was different from those bands that only have a few good songs. To name a few, my favorite Beatles songs would be While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Strawberry Fields Forever, Dear Prudence, Come Together, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and Hey Jude.

NIRVANA?

What's Nirvana? That's my favorite band. They have been my favorite band since before the 5th grade. I remember listening to their self-titled album at first, in amazement. My friend Eduardo had introduced me to them. Five years later, he's moved to Venezuela, and I am still obsessed with the band. The first song I like from them was Come as You Are. Then I started loving Smells like Teen Spirit, Rape me, and Heart- Shaped Box.
In 6th grade, I bought the 4 disc pack. That was year after buying their album called Nevermind. In Bloom and Territorial Pissings were my favorite tracks from this album. Anyways, this band became such an addiction because they were so grunge and they had their own unique sound. Kurt Cobain's voice is incomparable to others. Even though they are no longer together because of his death, I still look up to them and I probably always will.

Which instrument?

At some point, everyone has wanted to start playing a musical instrument. While some have given up, others kept going and look where they are now. Many professional bands include some of these people. The problem is that nobody knows which intrument they should start playing. The problem is quite reasonably since there is a varied range of instruments one could play. These include guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, just to name a few.
If you want to play guitar, you have to be prepared to sit down for hours trying to get down your first chord. You would have to understand that it's not a one week thing to learn how to play guitar, neither is any other instrument. Bass can be easier than the guitar but people who play bass are people that don't like the most attention, but still can be heard a little bit. Same thing with the keyboard. But if you're someone crazy who likes to have the most fun, drums is probably the best instrument. Even though the drummer is all the way in the back, he/she still gets plenty of appreciation.

When I get Home you're so Dead

"The words are coming I feel terrible
Is it typical, for us to end like this
Am I just another scene
From a movie that you've seen 100 times
Cause baby you weren't the first, or the last, or the worst
And I've got to fill the blanks in this past with a verse
We could sit around and cry but frankly your not worth it
Anymore

So say hello to all the boys at the top of this table that you're under
Lip sync lullabies
This is sorry for the last time
And baby I understand that you're making new friends
This is how you get by
The moral this time is
Girls make boys cry
And I...

On any other day would shoot the boy
But your simple toy
Had caused a scene like that
Leave him hanging on the walls
Just a picture in the hall
Like 100 more
Consider this as a gift as you taste him on your lips
And he's making you scream with his hands on your hips
I hope he's leaving you empty baby this is just a fix
For such a simple. little. whore.

So say hello to all the boys at the top of this table that you're under
Lip sync lullabies
This is sorry for the last time
And baby I understand that you're making new friends
This is how you get by
The moral this time is
Girls make boys cry
And

Your name remains the same
All that has changed is this pretty face
So pull the trigger (Your name)
It never gets closer (remains the same)
You want to start over
But never start over

Pull the trigger (All that has changed)
It never gets closer (is this pretty face)
You want to start over
But never start over

So say hello to all the boys at the top of this table that you're under
Lip sync lullabies
This is sorry for the last time
And baby I understand that you're making new friends
This is how you get by
The moral this time is
Girls make boys cry and I...

Say hello
Say hello
(Whoaaaa)
Lip sync lullabies
This is sorry for the last time!
And baby I understand that you're making new friends
This is how you get by
The moral this time is
Girls make boys cry and. "

That is a song by Mayday Parade.
It's my current obsession

Warped Tour

What's Warped Tour? It's only the most amazing day of every summer. It's a music festival tour with numerous bands playing. It's usually done at some kind of venue, sponsored by the skating brand Vans. So many bands play that the genres vary from ska to hardcore to pop, even though it started out as only punk rock music.
When I went in the summer, I got to see most of my favorite bands. First band I saw was Saosin. After that, we went to eat some arepas which was before watching Attack Attack! The next band we saw was The Devil Wears Prada, who blew us away. While this band performed, it rained. It felt so good to feel the rain after sweating under the sun. Before I knew it, my favorite band Unieroath was playing and we went crazy. Later on, we also watched Chiodos who were amazing as well. It's a tiring day, but it's definitely worth going to

Video Games?

Personally, I think video games and music don’t mix together. All these companies are coming out with gaming for the Wii, 360, etc, that are completely ridiculous. First was Guitar Hero which was an okay game. Then came the sequels which kind of ruined it. Other people decided to make another game called Rock Band, which is the most pathetic excuse for a video game.
Now brands are coming up with games like DJ Hero, Band Hero, Sing it, and other stuff. These games only ruin the songs and overplay them. They do not even choose the best songs sometimes which kind of sucks. In my opinion, they should stop making these games because not only do they embarrass the instruments like guitar and drums, but they embarrass themselves.

Inspiration

Where does inspiration come from? Inspiration can come from everywhere around you. Inspirations are anything that encourages one to do what they desire. What you desire to do may be playing a sport, getting good grades, or even singing. Well again, inspiration comes from EVERYWHERE.
You could be thinking about the wars and the world and you could get inspired to write a song about it. Your parents getting you angry may inspire you as well, or a friend could inspire you to write. You could just look at the sky and write a beautiful song. Clearly inspiration comes from anywhere and it should be appreciated while it lasts. When you’re writing and you’re inspired, you feel nothing can stop you. However, when you loose this inspiration you don’t know what to write anymore. Inspiration is a wonderful thing.

Between the Buried and Me

Have you ever heard of the band Between the Buried and Me? They’re sick right? They came out with a new album called The Great Misdirect. The first song Mirrors is pretty soft at times, leading into the second song obfuscation, which is heavy and probably the best in the album. If you know about these guys, then you know about their other album, Colors.
“Colors” is a one hour song divided into 8 parts. It is the most genius creation ever. It starts out with piano and singing but directly goes into metal metal metal. This band includes soft parts, country, jazz, and other elements in their songs that make them unlike any other band. Not mentioning they have sick guitar skills, throughout the whole album, and especially in the last 3 minute solo in the song “White Walls.”

Obsessed

Obsessed? No, this isn’t the movie that came out months ago. I mean the obsessed when you can’t get a song out of your head. It happens to everybody, including you. Why does it happen? No one knows. It’s sort of like when someone has an itch. They keep scratching to make themselves feel better or to make it go away. Well, instead you sing or dance or just listen to the song until you get tired of it. Then, what do you do? You get obsessed with another song.
These obsessions usually last about a week. If it’s a really good song then it could last a little more. If it’s an amazing song, you may be stuck with it the rest of your life. Is there a solution for this? No. Just listen to it and enjoy. Good luck bye.

underrated

Most of the good work is underrated. Most of the pathetic work is overrated. This means that some of the best work is not appreciated as much as it should be. Some not-as-good work should also be appreciated and it is not. Indie is an excellent style of music and almost nobody appreciates it. My friend Miguel Hernandez introduced me to this awesome genre, since he is a big fan of it. Bands like Cake, Arcade Fire, The Shins, Dr. Dog, and Modest Mouse have amazing music that nobody actually appreciates as much as other crappy genres of music. If you listen to the song “My Old Ways” by Dr. Dog, you will most likely not like it at first. It was definitely worth it to get into it.
Ska? Yes, a kind of music. It combines reggae, jazz, punk, and blues sometimes. Most people listen to it and say “WHAT THE ****?!” Well, again another underrated kind of music that requires lots of talents. It’s also very enjoyable after getting used to it. Listen to the bands Rx Bandits, Suburban Legends, Suicide Machines, Less than Jake, and Reel Big Fish. Country is also underrated, but I don’t even listen to it, so I can’t say…

Experimenting?

Experimenting is defined as the testing of an idea, in non-scientifical terms. What does this mean? Well, experimenting can lead to discovering new things, which is perfectly revelant in music. For example, when discovering new artists, you're experimenting and looking for new music. Sometimes even new kinds of music. For someone who usually listens to one type of music, it might be fun to start listening to other genres to see what else they like.
Experimenting when creating music is the best thing you can do. Bands and musicians that experiment usually have uniqueness in their music and it's completely original. It may be "weird" for some people, but weird is good. Experimenting can be done with any kind of music. Artists like Daft Punk, Eiffel 65, Fatboy Slim, and others, experiment with electronic music to create original work that sounds much more unique than other artists of the genre. The Sound of Animals Fighting is another experimental band that has very unique songs in the roots of rock. Make sure you check out other experimental bands.

Deathcore?

Amazing guitars, blasting beats, and screaming vocals. Deathcore is probably the best genre of heavy rock/hardcore. Even though it relates to the roots of hard rock, death metal, and grindcore, it is definitely unique. It is a combination of harcore and death metal which are both excellent genres. Deathcore is one of the most challenging genres to play, since it has complex guitar and very complicated drums.
The band As Blood Runs Black provides a perfect example of deathcore. The song “Beneath the Surface” is an amazing song. Other good similar bands include Burning the Masses, Beneath the Massacre, Belay my Last, Bring me the Horizon, and that’s only the letter B.

What happened?

Music has entirely changed in the past ten to fifteen years. It's changed even more in the past thirty years. My parents tell me how they remember those days. The Beatles were the greatest thing in the world, and other good bands included the Rolling Stones, the Wonders, etc. This was the time Elvis Presley was considered the "The King of Rock" and I was a big fan. Amazing bands of this era later included the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Boston, AC/DC, Free, Cream, and many more.

Nowadays, the most popular hits include pop, rap, and other stuff. Bands that get high popularity are now The Jonas Brothers, Fall Out Boy, and other poser bands. I wish I could go back to the past and watch old bands perform. It would have been amazing to see Nirvana live, for example, even though they aren't that old. Now, I can't listen to anything on the radio because it's not good in my opinion. What happened?

Underoath

Underoath is one of my favorite bands of all time. They're a christian hardcore band from Tampa, Florida. Even though they have gone through several line up changes, all their music is amazing. They started out with a vocalist named Dallas Taylor who stuck around for 3 of their albums, 2 of them EPs. The drummer, Aaron Gillespie, is completely amazing. He's the only member that's been in the band the whole time and his drumming skills are incredible. He is someone I look up to because I wish I was as good as him.
Underoath's best album, in my opinion, is "They're only Chasing Safety." This was when they had their new vocalist, Spencer Chamberlain. Aaaron started singing more in this album, which made it different from the others. I love how Underoath goes from heavy to really soft, and how they incorporate unique synth sounds into their songs. Underoath FTW.

Welcome

This is my first blog. I will be writing about all kinds of topics relating to music. I plan to write about specific bands and how they've changed over time. Also, specific songs, in comparison to others. I will probably compare bands that are similar or a bit alike. I will most likely talk about the instruments too. These include guitar, drums, keyboards and even singing.
I also plan to talk about how music has changed over the years and how people's taste in music have changed. I will include how in other countries the music is completely different. At last, I will include ways in which music helps people, and how important it is.
